What is the Annual Fund and why do we need it?
The King’s Annual Fund ushers in a new era of charitable giving at our school. It is a yearly campaign that solicits gifts from the community to help King’s reach its full potential for excellence. The Annual Fund sustains King’s commitment to quality education. King’s tuition does not cover the cost of educating each student. We rely on gifts from our community to support the excellence of our programs, and further the mission of King’s Schools.

Where does the money go?
The Annual Fund supports the mission of King’s Schools and programs that we would not otherwise be able to offer. By giving a gift to King’s Schools, you are investing in the quality education and future success of King’s students. Your gift supplements the cost of tuition.

Gifts to the Annual Fund provide unrestricted support for the operation of King’s, including professional development for faculty and staff, program and classroom materials, fine arts and athletics, maintenance of buildings and grounds, state-of-the-art technology in every classroom, an exceptional music program starting in the Children’s Center, and much more. Additionally, a strong Annual Fund demonstrates support for our school, by helping to ensure affordable tuition and providing financial stability for our school.

How much does the school need to raise?
The Annual Fund asks for 100 percent participation from its King’s community.

How much will we be asked to give?
We are seeking 100 percent participation. We invite you to make a gift of your choosing; your gift of any amount will be celebrated and will further the mission and ministry of King’s.

Why is percentage of participation important?
High participation in the Annual Fund is an important way for us to demonstrate to others in our community and to prospective families the commitment and dedication of our parents, alumnae, and friends to the school and our students. We aim for 100 percent participation. Foundations and corporations awarding grants to an educational institution often look at the level of parent, alumnae, and community participation in the school’s Annual Fund.

Who is asked to give?
Every member of the King’s community is asked to give a gift to the Annual Fund. Your involvement is what makes a difference in our ability to operate at the highest levels of excellence. Your gift supplements the cost of tuition.

What is "Giving With Class"?
Giving with Class is a newly established Alumni Annual Fund Giving Campaign. Gifts to the Annual Fund from King’s graduates will be grouped together by graduating year creating a greater potential for community impact and celebration. Your gift makes a difference. When will I be asked to give?
The Annual Fund gifts are applied to this fiscal year; while we hope to receive pledges and gifts by year-end December 31, 2010, we welcome gifts through June 30, 2011.

How will the Annual Fund interact with the Auction?
The Annual Fund allows us to continue to operate at levels of excellence that extend beyond tuition alone, and supports projects for the current school year. Since tuition alone does not cover the “gap” in educating your children, additional funding is needed. Gifts to the Annual Fund provide unrestricted support for the operation of the school.

The auction, on the other hand, supports specifically designated enhancements selected for the following school year. Each year the Auction Committee and King’s Administration determine funding objectives for the auction; the funds are used in the following year for designated projects.

How do I give?
Gifts can be made by cash, stock, or credit card. You may mail gifts to the school, attention: King’s Annual Fund, or make an online gift, click here or www.kingsschools.org/ksannual.While some people will choose to send their gift immediately, others will choose to make monthly or quarterly pledge payments. Funds or pledges are encouraged before December 31, 2010. Your gift is 100 percent tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Many companies offer matching gift programs where your donation is doubled, so please check to see if your company offers this.
