King's Schools: An Inspiring History

King's Schools has a rich heritage that began in 1950 by Mike and Vivian Martin.  Founded as a private Christian school for preschool through 12th grade in Shoreline in North Seattle, King’s was originally called "King's Garden,” a school rooted in weekly Bible studies and fellowship meetings in the Martin home.  King's Garden quickly became more than a school, growing into a family of ministries that operated two Christian radio stations, a printing press, a missionary letter-writing service and a senior living home for senior citizens. The ministry continued to expand and experience God's grace, and in 1979, the name was changed to CRISTA Ministries, and the schools became King's Schools.

In 1991 King's Schools acquired Bremerton Christian Schools, adding a Bremerton campus. King's Westopened as a K-12 school in September of the same year.
